nariñoIn the Andean region of the present department of Nariño, many remains corresponding to an archaeological complex known vaguely as of the Quillacingas and Pastos have been discovered, but of their authors, little concrete is yet known. Among the gold finds of the region, cast and hammered pieces, plated in gold, gilded and polished are noteworthy. The commonest artefacts are pendants, small plates to sew on textiles, nosepieces and rattles, mostly of geometric designs of stylized animals. The ceramics founds in tombs, sometimes with golden objects is interesting because scenes with animals and from daily life are represented. A clear influence of the civilizations of Ecuador and Peru can be seen in these cultural traits. |
